Deltec protein skimmer 1500i

The Deltec Skimmer 1500i has a newly developed emergency overflow. This prevents the skimmer from “boiling over” when the water level in the skimmer rises. This can happen, for example, because the feed pump stops and the water level in the sump rises. In addition, there may be problems with the air supply, e.g. due to a kink in the silicone hose. This allows the skimmer to “boil over” and the water rises so high that it is forced into the foam pot and the foam waste is flushed back into the sump. This leads to an extreme load on water. This is prevented by the emergency overflow.

Emergency overflow pipe and regulator pipe

The water level in the Deltec Skimmer 1500i can be read from the emergency overflow line. In addition, the minimum and maximum markings help to optimize the water level. The ability to swap the emergency overflow line with the regulator tube allows the user to decide how the lines are arranged.

Pump

The Deltec Skimmer 1500i is equipped with the Deltec pump DCC 3. This 24V DC pump can be operated via an eight-stage controller and can be optimally adjusted to the water level and water load. At the optimum level 6 (for most aquariums), with only 22 watts, approximately 1,000 liters of air are generated.

The ergonomic cylinder shape

Thanks to the ergonomic cylinder shape, the Deltec Skimmer 1500i achieves the best results with
skimming. The shape of the skimmer does not run upwards. This allows the small air bubbles to rise unimpeded, they are completely saturated and only burst into the riser of the foam pot. From there, the skimming waste can be disposed of via a drain hose without having to lower the foam pot.

Cleaning system

A cleaning system for the Deltec Skimmer 1500i is available as an option, whereby the inner standpipe is cleaned by turning deposits through the foam cover. If these deposits are not removed at regular intervals, the skimming performance will be drastically reduced as foam bubbles form on this layer

Hollow chamber floor

An additional innovation of the Deltec Skimmer 1500i is the hollow chamber floor. This helps dampen the sound even more, making the already quiet Deltec Skimmer 1500i “whisper quiet”. In addition, the water flows back through the hollow chamber floor. The water is discharged from the skimmer at the lowest possible point, which means that almost no air bubbles can flow into the aquarium.

Disassembly, dimensions and construction

The normal cleaning of the pump is very easy thanks to the simple and quick disassembly of the skimmer. Deltec Skimmer 1500i can be assembled and disassembled without tools. Tests have shown that the pump can be removed from the skimmer in less than 20 seconds. The dimensions of the Deltec Skimmer 1500i have been chosen so that they can be comfortably placed in a sump. Due to the large volume of the cylinder shape, a small base area is sufficient.
