Reef Octopus Elite Protein Skimmers have a premium cast acrylic housing and the reliable VarioS DC pumps. Compared to other skimmers in the same category, the Elite series of skimmers is much more efficient and quieter. The wine glass shape allows bubbles to transfer smoothly into the collection cup, where many other skimmers use two-piece body designs that create sharp edges and break bubbles. Each Elite skimmer comes with an integrated skimmer cup overflow float switch that connects directly to the VarioS pump controller and shuts off the skimmer when the cup is full, eliminating messy and smelly overflows.

Controlling the flow through Reef Octopus Elite Series is done through the wedge pipe, which can be easily rotated to adjust the water level in the skimmer. The other tuning method is the VarioS pump, which can be adjusted with 5 different speeds giving different air to water ratios. Since not every reef tank is made the same, having multiple methods of controlling flow and residence time can lead to a much more efficient protein skimmer.
