The new aquarium enthusiast has many challenges, but none are more annoying than having to add evaporation water every day. This alone usually makes the automatic top-off (ATO) device the first piece of automation equipment to buy.
The downside to this decision is that a faulty ATO device is one of the main reasons for catastrophic aquarium failure, or worse, home flooding.
Not all ATO devices are the same. Unfortunately, many ATO devices on the market are made with inexpensive components, have very little protection against these catastrophes, and are just a nightmare to assemble and install properly.
